James Samuel "Sam" Dawson departed on March 26, 2015 from complications of Alzheimer Disease. Sam, born on November 22, 1935 and was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis, who departed 19 years earlier on March 25, 1996. Sam is preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Sam is survived by three children James "Allen", Cheryl and Kevin; two daughters-in-law, Zuzana and Karen, his buddy, companion, and caretaker for the last five years; his daughter's significant other Steve; three grandchildren Andrew, Alicia and Anna; and one great granddaughter, Lena. Sam is also survived by his in-laws, Diana and Bill; and a number of nieces and nephews.

After a forty year career in the machine shop trade, Sam retired and enjoyed traveling in his RV, especially to the mountains in Colorado and Utah. Sam enjoyed hunting with Allen and Andrew. Sam was renowned as one of the worst shots ever. Thank goodness for dead-eye Allen. Sam never taught Kevin how to fly fish mostly due to Sam's lack of patience and Kevin's ineptitude. Cheryl and Sam never met a bargain they couldn't pass up. Sam loved life and lived it with great passion. Whether it was four-wheeling up a mountain pass, fishing for walleye in Canada, riding his motorcycles or just endlessly watching the waves break against the shore, Sam did it with passion and the feeling of surprise no matter how many times he had done it before.

Celebrations of Sam's life will include a Visitation on Monday, March 30 from 4:00 PM ''' 8:00 PM at Alexander-White-Mullen Funeral Home and the Service on Tuesday, March 31 at 10:00 am at the funeral home.. Lunch and celebration of Sam's new journey to follow at the home of Jon and Alicia Brozovich
